This unusual wall hanging is hand carved from African mahogany wood, locally known as 'Muhuhu.' It is used to carve many of our wood artifacts. The carvers of the Akamba tribe of Kenya produce most of these items. They use only chisels and knives on the wood to achieve the shape of the item they are carving. Then sandpaper and polish is used to achieve the final smooth finish. No electrical tools are used. Hand carved items are always similar, but no two pieces are "exactly" alike, which adds to their value.
